History
After the end of World War II, a group of men formed an organization for avid gunsmen and hunters. In 1954, the members completed construction on what still stands today as the River Raisin Sportsman's Club. Nestled in the middle of fertile farmland and wooded area, the Club sits on eight acres of land on the north side of Blissfield.
The original members used pine planks to line the interior of their hideaway, and also erected a beautiful stone fireplace. This group was also responsible for the installation of a Traphouse on the grounds, and a 50-foot indoor shooting range for .22 caliber rifles and pistol practice.
Todays members continue to use the indoor shooting range for both firearm and archery leagues. Recently, the men constructed an outdoor shooting shelter which compliments the existing archery practice range and the beautiful wooded area set aside for the "Woods Walks" in the fall and 3-D shoots in the summer.
